Fallstudie Trauma 

In this series of large-scale paintings, Barbist explores emotional trauma through layers of movement, gesture, and direct bodily engagement with paint. Working with her hands, she folds, presses, and reconfigures the painted surface, allowing movement to become embedded in the material. In subsequent performances, she translates the gestures and rhythms of the finished paintings back into her body, extending the work into time and movement.
